The National Sports Center for the Disabled recently opened its new NSCD Adaptive Program Center at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. To celebrate the opening, a Field Day event was held with over 100 Aurora Public School students, representatives from The Hartford, Move United, Jefferson County Officials, and Denver Broncos alumni in attendance.

During the Field Day event, students were able to participate in various activities such as an obstacle course, archery, and try out adaptive cycles as part of the launch of the new adaptive program. The NSCD received a $50,000 grant from The Hartford to purchase new adaptive cycles for the program.

Julie Taulman, president and CEO of the NSCD, mentioned that the location of the new program center provides a safe and convenient space for people to enjoy outdoor activities. She highlighted the importance of socializing with others and trying out different sports and activities. The center offers 100 acres of land with easy access to miles of trails for programs and lessons offered during the spring, summer, and fall.

Overall, the NSCD’s new Adaptive Program Center is designed to provide individuals with disabilities the opportunity to engage in sports and outdoor activities in a safe and inclusive environment.
