Nintendo has announced the first Indie World Showcase for 2024, scheduled to air tomorrow, April 17 at 7am PT / 10am ET. The event will be roughly 20 minutes long and will bring news and updates on indie games heading to the Nintendo Switch. As with previous showcases, this one is expected to feature exciting announcements and updates on upcoming indie titles.

The previous Nintendo Indie World Showcase took place in November and featured announcements such as a Switch port of Outer Wilds, Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution, and On Your Tail. While Nintendo has not revealed specific titles for this upcoming event, fans are hopeful that Team Cherry will finally announce a release date for Hollow Knight: Silksong, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular game Hollow Knight.

The announcement of the Indie World Showcase comes shortly after Nintendo confirmed that it will not be attending Gamescom this year. While the reason for skipping the event has not been disclosed, speculations suggest it may be due to the company’s light release schedule for 2024. Last year, Nintendo attended Gamescom and reportedly showcased a successor to the Nintendo Switch behind closed doors. Rumors about a new Switch model have surfaced, but no official announcement has been made yet.

It will be interesting to see what indie gems Nintendo will unveil during the upcoming showcase and whether Hollow Knight: Silksong will finally get a release date. Fans can tune in tomorrow to watch the event live and stay updated on the latest indie games coming to the Nintendo Switch.
