Nintendo has announced the celebration of World Championships: NES Edition, which will be held on July 18. Players will be able to test their skills from home in an online format to qualify for the World Championship.

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is a global competition that players from around the world can participate in on the Nintendo Switch. Players will compete in over 150 mini-challenges from 13 classic NES games. This event pays tribute to the in-person Nintendo World Championships that took place in 1990, 2015, and 2017.

The new edition will be digital only and will take place on July 18. Players are encouraged to warm up by setting personal records in single-player mode (Speedrun) before competing locally in Party mode. Subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online will have access to the World Championship mode where they can submit their best times in five challenges that rotate weekly to try and climb the world rankings.

The challenges will be taken from classic NES games such as Balloon Fight, Donkey Kong, Excitebike, and more. Additionally, a Deluxe Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition pack will be available on July 18, including a physical version of the game, collectible pins, commemorative illustrated cards, and a replica of the golden NES game pak.

Overall, the event promises a fun and competitive experience for players to showcase their skills and compete on a global scale.
