One person dead, another hospitalized following morning business fire in Carmel

A fire broke out in a Carmel strip mall early Thursday morning, resulting in one person dead and another injured. The Carmel Fire Department responded to the blaze around 3:30 a.m. in the 9800 block of N. Michigan Road. Tragically, a man was found dead inside the building, while another individual was taken to Eskenazi Hospital with fire-related injuries. Additionally, a Carmel firefighter sustained minor injuries during the incident. The fire forced the closure of Michigan Road in both directions near 96th Street.
