Every week, Oprah sets an intention exclusively for Oprah Daily Insiders, focusing on topics like letting go, forgiveness, coming into your own, and more. Hello, Insiders, and happy Sunday. Last week, we launched a new “The Life You Want” Class about the ongoing crisis in teen mental health. It was eye-opening to learn about the struggles young people face today. Teens today have to deal with the dangers of social media, the pressures of selfie culture, and the constant distraction of smartphones.

One of the guests on the class was Jonathan Haidt, an NYU professor and author of the bestseller “The Anxious Generation.” Haidt shared insights on how Generation Alpha, the first to grow up with technology, are facing challenges due to overprotection in the real world and underprotection online. Dr. Becky Kennedy, a parenting expert, also spoke about the impact of technology on kids, emphasizing the importance of experiencing the real world with effort and delayed gratification.

If you’re a parent, grandparent, aunt, or uncle, this class aims to provide you with knowledge and actionable steps to protect and guide the young people in your life. Share your thoughts on the class in the comments below. Have a wonderful week, everyone. Stay well.
