Ott appointed as a member of Team Canada’s coaching staff for World Championship

Hockey Canada has announced that Blues Assistant Coach Steve Ott has been selected as an assistant coach for Team Canada at the 2024 IIHF World Championship. The coaching staff will be led by head coach Andre Tourigny, with Dean Evason and Jay Woodcroft serving as assistants. The tournament is set to take place from May 10-26 in Prague and Ostrava, Czechia.

Hailing from Summerside, PEI, Ott will be making his international coaching debut at the upcoming championship. After completing his seventh season with the Blues, he brings a wealth of experience to the team. Ott has played a key role in the Blues’ success, helping them secure four playoff appearances and a Stanley Cup Championship in 2019.

During his playing career, Ott appeared in 848 NHL regular-season games with various teams including the Blues, Detroit Red Wings, Dallas Stars, Buffalo Sabres, and Montréal Canadiens. He also has a strong international background, earning a bronze at the 2001 IIHF World Junior Championship, a silver at the 2002 tournament, and representing Canada at the 2010 IIHF World Championship.

Team Canada is looking to build a strong coaching staff to lead them to success in the upcoming tournament, and Ott’s experience and expertise will undoubtedly be a valuable asset to the team.
