Long Khanh Regional General Hospital has had a surge in patients suspected of poisoning after consuming bread in the past two days, with a total of 209 cases reported. One serious case required transfer to a higher hospital for further treatment. The patients began arriving at the hospital on May 1-2, with 160 individuals requiring hospitalization, 5 coming in for examination and then discharged, and 43 mild cases immediately discharged, according to the hospital’s leader.

These patients all exhibited symptoms after consuming meat sandwiches from a business in Xuan Binh ward, Long Khanh, between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on April 30. Symptoms included vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain, leading doctors to suspect food poisoning or intestinal infection. Fortunately, the majority of patients are now in stable condition.

The Food Safety and Hygiene Department of Dong Nai province is set to collaborate with the Medical Center and other relevant agencies in Long Khanh City to investigate the root cause of the incident. The Department of Health has instructed Long Khanh Regional General Hospital to provide the best possible care for the affected patients. Meanwhile, the bakery in question, which has been operating for over a decade, has been temporarily closed as it did not possess a certificate of food safety and hygiene.

Overall, the situation is being closely monitored and efforts are being made to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals involved.
