Cole Palmer has been named the EA SPORTS Player of the Month for April 2024, marking his first time winning the award. The Chelsea midfielder stood out in the league by leading in goals, scoring seven times in just four appearances. Additionally, he provided an assist, contributing directly to a total of eight goals in April, a feat unmatched by any other player.
In April, Palmer’s performance on the field propelled him to second place in the running for the season’s Castrol Golden Boot award. His remarkable achievements included a hat-trick in a thrilling 4-3 victory against Manchester United, where he scored the equalizing and winning goals in second-half stoppage time. He then continued his impressive form by scoring four times in a 6-0 win over Everton. This streak made him the first Chelsea player to score in seven consecutive Premier League home matches and the earliest player in Chelsea’s history to complete a hat-trick within 29 minutes of a match.
Having previously been awarded the PL2 Player of the Month in October 2020 while playing for Manchester City, Palmer now joins the ranks of Chelsea players who have received this accolade, the last being Eden Hazard in September 2018. The 22-year-old secured his victory after topping a prestigious six-man shortlist, combining votes from the public on the EA SPORTS website with those of a panel of football experts. Fans can continue to support Palmer by voting for him as the 2023/24 EA SPORTS Player of the Season from an eight-man shortlist announced on Thursday.
Looking back at the 2023/24 season, past winners of the Player of the Month award include James Maddison (Spurs) in August, Son Heung-min (Spurs) in September, and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) in October. The list continues with Harry Maguire (Man Utd) in November, Dominic Solanke (Bournemouth) in December, Diogo Jota (Liverpool) in January, Rasmus Hojlund (Man Utd) in February, and Rodrigo Muniz (Fulham) in March. The Barclays Manager of the Month will also be announced at 12:00 BST.
