The Patriots have encountered challenges in finding candidates to interview for their head of football operations position. However, they have managed to secure meetings with a couple of willing candidates. Eagles director of scouting Brandon Hunt recently spoke with the team, while former Panthers director of player negotiations and salary cap manager Samir Suleiman is scheduled to meet with them soon. Suleiman has a background in contract matters and football administration, having worked for the Panthers, Steelers, Rams, and Jaguars in the past.

During his time with the Rams, Suleiman made headlines for a message he sent to a reporter, which indicated his aggressive approach to dealing with sources. Despite these reports, scouting director Eliot Wolf has been fulfilling the duties of a General Manager in New England following Bill Belichick’s departure and is believed to be the frontrunner for the job. There are conflicting reports regarding whether the Patriots have met Rooney Rule requirements, which could explain why other executives have declined to interview for a position they feel may already be spoken for internally.
