During the past offseason, the New York Giants explored their options at quarterback. They attempted to move up in the 2024 NFL draft to select one of the top passers but were unsuccessful. Their efforts to make a deal to get into the top 3 were thwarted by other teams who were unwilling to budge. As a result, the Giants will head into the upcoming season relying on Daniel Jones and free agent Drew Lock as their quarterbacks.

Daniel Jones is still recovering from a torn ACL that caused him to miss the second half of the 2023 season. The Giants are counting on him to lead the team, along with Drew Lock, who they hope will show improvement. However, in a recent ranking of NFL quarterback situations by Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus, the Giants’ quarterback situation was ranked 29th out of all the teams.

Jones struggled last season, finishing as the third-ranked quarterback in PFF grade on his own team. He showed flashes of brilliance but also had some rough outings, with inconsistent performances week to week. Despite his athleticism and ability to make plays with his legs, Jones has struggled with turnovers and has had a low average depth of target in recent seasons.

Many Giants fans agree with the assessment of Jones. He has faced injuries and inconsistency throughout his five years with the team. The constant turnover in coaching staff and offensive coordinators has made it difficult for Jones to find stability and success on the field. With the 2024 season approaching, the Giants are hoping that Jones can stay healthy and take a step forward as a leader for the team.
