Pickleball Exhibition and Senior Health Fair held in Biloxi

Players in Biloxi participated in a pickleball exhibition this week, showcasing their skills and promoting the benefits of the sport for seniors. The event was organized by the Southern Mississippi Planning and Development District in partnership with Mississippi Gulf Coast Pickleball at the Donal Snyder Community Center.

One enthusiastic player, Amy Ostlund, shared her experience of moving to Biloxi specifically for the pickleball program. She praised the program for its quality, offering free lessons and play that contributed to her cardiovascular health, weight loss, balance, and memory improvement.

Volunteer coordinator Tom Linenberger highlighted the accessibility of pickleball, noting that players of all levels can participate and enjoy the game. While some players may be more advanced, there are opportunities for recreational players to join in the fun and benefits of the sport.

The event also featured a senior health fair, emphasizing the importance of staying active and engaged as one ages. This marks the fourth year of the health fair, showcasing the commitment of the community to promoting wellness among its residents.
