A Massachusetts man named Jose Mendez is facing charges for allegedly assaulting two women while running an unlicensed chiropractic business. The charges against Mendez include indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, as well as indecent exposure. The Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan stated that Mendez was operating the illegal business on Cross Street in Somerville.

According to prosecutors, two women were inappropriately touched when they sought treatment at Mendez’s business. During one of the incidents, Mendez allegedly unzipped his pants and exposed himself to one of the women. Mendez was arraigned in Somerville District Court with bail set at $5,500, and he was ordered to stay away from the alleged victims. The judge also prohibited Mendez from practicing as a chiropractor. Mendez is scheduled to appear in court again on May 14.

Following his arrest, Mendez spoke to WBZ-TV and denied the allegations but declined further comment, stating that he needed to speak to his lawyer. Matt Schooley, a digital producer at CBS Boston, has been a member of the WBZ news team for the last decade.
