On Thursday, Pro-Palestinian protestors made their presence known at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. Earlier in the day, demonstrators had stormed The Museum at FIT on W. 27th St. and Seventh Ave. Videos show protestors pushing through the doors and taking over the lobby while chanting “Free, free, free Palestine.”
By early Thursday evening, around 60 protestors remained in the lobby with tents and a sign reading “FIT Gaza Solidarity Encampment.” Meanwhile, about 20 protestors outside provided supplies like blankets, cardboard, and markers to those inside. Security guards prevented anyone else from entering the museum, which was closed as students camped out.
The NYPD had not intervened as of Thursday evening, allowing the protestors to continue their demonstration inside the Fashion Institute of Technology. This incident highlighted the ongoing tensions surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the impact it has on communities around the world.
