Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice is currently taking part in the team’s voluntary offseason program, which is being held virtually until practice commences on May 20. Additionally, he has begun training with quarterback Patrick Mahomes in Texas. Rice shared videos on Instagram of himself catching passes from Mahomes at a high school in the Fort Worth area. Mahomes has mentioned that he has been working with Rice consistently throughout the offseason and plans to continue their work as the legal process unfolds.

During Phase One of the team’s offseason program, Mahomes arranges on-field practices three times a week, followed by meetings with position coaches. Rice’s future with the team was unclear until coach Andy Reid addressed the local media on Monday. Rice is facing eight felony charges after being involved in a high-speed crash in Dallas last month. Despite the legal issues, Rice had an impressive rookie season, leading the team’s wide receivers with 938 yards and seven touchdowns on 79 receptions. The Chiefs are hopeful that he will be a key player starting alongside Hollywood Brown. Reid stated that the team will wait for law enforcement to take action before making any decisions regarding Rice’s status with the team. He mentioned that he has spoken with Rice and emphasized the importance of learning from the situation.
