Results from Round 1 of the 2024 FIM Supermoto World Championship

The 2024 FIM Supermoto World Championship kicked off with the opening round, the GP of Comunitat Valenciana, in Albaida, Spain on April 20-21. French rider Thomas Chareyre emerged victorious in this round. Chareyre, riding a Honda CRF450R, engaged in a tough battle with Germany’s Mark Reiner Schmidt, the number-one plate holder, to secure the overall win. Chareyre showed his dominance by winning every time he was on the bike. Schmidt, on a TM, faced competition from KTM rider Julen Avila Cortes of Spain, who finished third overall. Honda riders Elia Sammartin from Italy and Ferran Cardus from Spain completed the top five overall finishers.

In the SuperMoto Legends class, Czech rider Petr Vorlicek on a Honda clinched the victory ahead of Great Britain’s Jay Smith on a KTM and Scott Murray also on a Honda. Germany’s Mark Reiner Schmidt secured the runner-up spot on a TM. The next round, the GP of Sardegna, is scheduled for May 25-26.
