The World Olympic Games Qualifier is scheduled to take place in Istanbul, Turkey from May 9-12. In this event, the top three competitors in each weight category will secure automatic qualification for their respective weight classes and countries in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Team USA will be represented by five competitors – Spencer Lee (57 kg), Zain Retherford (65 kg), Dalton Roberts (60 kg), Ellis Coleman (67 kg), and Kamal Bey (77 kg).
Unfortunately, Dalton Roberts, competing in the 60 kg Greco-Roman category, was eliminated after a tough match against Viktor Petryk from Ukraine. Ellis Coleman, competing in the 67 kg category, secured a narrow victory in round one but was defeated in round two by Andreas Vetsch from Switzerland. Kamal Bey, competing in the 77 kg category, faced a tough opponent in Sergei Kutuzov from Azerbaijan and was defeated.
The Men’s Freestyle competition is set to take place on May 11-12, with Spencer Lee and Zain Retherford representing Team USA in the 57 kg and 65 kg categories, respectively. Fans can follow the full results and schedule for Team USA in the upcoming matches.
