Ryan Swanson, a resident of Panama and co-owner and golf professional at Pinehurst Golf Club, has an upcoming road trip planned for later this month. He will be participating in the PGA Professional Championship from April 28 to May 1 in Frisco, Texas. Swanson, who is also the head coach of the St. Bonaventure University golf team, secured his spot in the championship after finishing in a tie for second in the Western New York PGA Section Championship last year.

His impressive performance at the Section Championship, where he carded a 70-74-144, earned him a spot in the PGA Professional Championship alongside a field of more than 300 participants. As the head coach of the St. Bonaventure golf program for eight seasons, Swanson has made a significant impact on the team. He has recruited and developed top talent, leading to some of the best graduating classes in program history. Swanson’s efforts have raised the level of competition and success within the Bonnies golf program, with players like Christian Chapman, Danny Gianniny, and Jack Geise setting program records during their time at St. Bonaventure.

In the 2022-23 season, players like Jack Angelucci and Erik Stauderman continued to make their mark on the program, setting new records and achieving success on the course. The academic success of the team has also been recognized, with multiple players earning accolades for their achievements in the classroom.
