Ryobi Die Casting USA Inc. based in Shelbyville announced plans to invest $50 million in expanding its aluminum die casting facility in Irapauto, Mexico. The expansion project, which will create 124 new jobs, is aimed at increasing capacity to meet future demand in the electric vehicle market. The facility currently employs 724 people and will add 91,500 square feet of space to accommodate five new high-pressure die cast machines.

Ryobi’s President and COO, Ryan Willhelm, expressed that this expansion is a significant milestone for the company in North America and is a testimony to the high-quality work done by the employees in Irapuato as automotive suppliers. Construction on the expansion is set to begin next month and is projected to be completed by April 2025.

Ryobi Die Casting is a subsidiary of Ryobi Limited in Japan and focuses on manufacturing aluminum die castings for the automotive industry. In addition to its Mexico facility, the company also operates a 1 million square foot manufacturing space in Shelbyville. The last expansion at the Shelbyville campus occurred in 2016, where $100 million was invested to purchase and equip a new facility adjacent to the main manufacturing plant, adding 150 jobs.
