During Tuesday’s Santa Maria City Council meeting, two local businesses were honored for their significant contributions to the community. Arrow Plumbing Drain & Repair Service and Trojan Petroleum were recognized as the Santa Maria businesses of the quarter for the months of April through June 2024.

Arrow Plumbing Drain & Repair Service, located at 320 Oak St. in Santa Maria, was founded by Daniel Keuma in 1991. What began as a one-truck operation has now expanded to seven trucks and eight employees. The company offers services to both residential and commercial customers and actively participates in community events and charitable causes.

Trojan Petroleum, situated at 1665 West Betteravia Rd. in Santa Maria, was established 43 years ago by Bud and Ebba Richards. Over the years, it has evolved into a full-service petroleum distributor specializing in delivering fuel to farm locations and job sites across Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. The company is also a Pacific Pride cardlock site with a fleet of 15 delivery trucks, and is actively involved in various local civic groups.

The City of Santa Maria, in collaboration with the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce, has implemented the Business of the Quarter program to spotlight different businesses in the city. Four times a year, two local small businesses are selected for recognition by the Chamber based on specific criteria such as having fewer than 20 employees, operating for at least five years, being physically located within city limits, and maintaining a good standing as a member of the local chamber of commerce.

This recognition not only provides valuable exposure to the chosen businesses, but also serves as a reminder to the community of the diverse and longstanding establishments that contribute to the vibrant fabric of Santa Maria. The full ceremony honoring Arrow Plumbing Drain & Repair Service and Trojan Petroleum can be viewed via the City’s livestream of the Tuesday City Council meeting.
