Kilmacolm Primary recently hosted a special event focused on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) for their pupils and parents. The school was transformed into a lab for the day as everyone worked together to explore wonders of the world and recreate engineering landmarks like the Colosseum in Athens. Led by Kilmacolm Primary’s young STEM leaders and teacher Wendy McKeegan, the event featured stalls showcasing the impact of technology on learning.

Pupil Blair Hetherington, a P6 student and STEM leader, expressed his excitement about organizing the event and participating on the day. He mentioned that parents had a great time joining in and that his own mother even participated with his younger sister in primary two. Blair took on the role of host, guiding pupils and parents through the challenges they faced during the event.

Teacher Wendy highlighted the importance of making science fun and engaging for everyone involved. The event aimed to bring parents back into the school after the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Kilmacolm Primary’s STEM leaders did a fantastic job setting up tasks that encouraged teamwork and collaboration among participants. Head teacher Simone McCreadie expressed her gratitude to the pupil STEM leaders, teacher Wendy, and all the parents for their participation and hard work in making the event a success.
