During Friday’s game against the Marlins, Kyle Schwarber left the game with a back injury after his fifth plate appearance. Despite postgame comments from manager Rob Thomson suggesting the Phillies are not too worried, Schwarber will likely sit out at least Saturday’s game. Thomson mentioned that the injury doesn’t seem serious but will be reevaluated.

It is unclear when the injury occurred, but Schwarber began to feel it after his seventh-inning plate appearance, resulting in a flyout to center field. The Phillies will take precautions with Schwarber’s injury, especially considering he is a key player for the team. The timing of the injury may not be too detrimental as the Phillies are set to face left-handed starting pitchers over the next few games.

Schwarber had a productive night before exiting the game. He had a hit to start the game and drove in a couple of runs with another hit in the fourth inning. Despite the Phillies struggling with runners in scoring position, they managed to win the game convincingly against a struggling Marlins team. The team has been performing well even after losing Trea Turner to injury and will now need to adjust to potentially not having Schwarber in the lineup for a few games.
