Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is pushing for more guaranteed money beyond the 2024 season, and coach Sean McVay seems to be leaning towards granting his request. However, McVay has stated that the matter will stay “in house” until it is finalized.

During a press conference on Tuesday, McVay emphasized that discussions about Stafford’s contract will not be shared publicly. Despite seeking more security in his contract, Stafford has been participating in voluntary OTAs. His presence is appreciated, but it is clear that negotiations are ongoing.

Reporters attempted to glean more information from McVay, but he reiterated that the situation will remain confidential. There is clearly a negotiation process happening behind the scenes, and Stafford will have to decide if he is willing to continue participating without increased contractual assurances.

McVay’s comments suggest that Stafford has trust that the situation will be resolved before training camp. It remains to be seen whether the quarterback will continue to show up for team activities if an agreement is not reached. The matter is being handled internally for now, and any updates will be shared when appropriate.
