In a historic turn of events, the first round of the draft saw quarterbacks being selected at a remarkable pace. The trend started with the Broncos picking former Oregon quarterback Bo Nix as the 12th overall pick, making it a total of six quarterbacks selected on Thursday night. This marked the first time in history that six quarterbacks were taken in the first 12 picks.

The Bears initiated the quarterback spree by selecting Caleb Williams, followed by Jayden Daniels going to Washington and Drake Maye being picked up by New England. Atlanta surprised many by selecting Michael Penix Jr. at No. 8, while the Vikings traded up to grab J.J. McCarthy at No. 10. This was only the second instance in NFL history where six quarterbacks were taken in the entire first round, with the first occurrence happening in the 1983 draft.

The draft picks continued with offensive players being chosen one after another, with Nix being the 12th consecutive offensive player selected to start the round. The night in Detroit will be remembered for the unprecedented number of quarterbacks chosen and the rapid pace at which they came off the board.
