Thursday in Munich will bring wintry weather with snow and slippery conditions in parts of Bavaria, while elsewhere thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected. The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts that snow and sleet will fall in the mountains and higher lowlands, with temperatures ranging from four degrees in Oberallgäu to twelve degrees in Lower Franconia thanks to cool sea air from the north.

The snow and rain showers are expected to continue into Friday night, with the Alps seeing five to ten centimeters of fresh snow above 1000 meters. Conditions are expected to improve in the rest of Bavaria. Friday will start with locally slippery conditions and temperatures between minus two and plus four degrees, with rain spreading from the northwest during the day. The snowfall limit will be between 600 and 800 meters, rising to 800 to 1000 meters in the south of Bavaria.

Saturday night will also see wet weather, with snow and sleet expected in the mountains and higher lowlands. The weekend weather will be changeable and cool, with snow, slippery conditions, thunderstorms, prolonged rain, and strong winds predicted. Sleet caused four accidents on Autobahn 9 near Ingolstadt on Thursday night, with drivers losing control of their vehicles and crashing into guard rails. Improper speed is believed to be the cause of the accidents, resulting in property damage of around 60,000 euros.
