Licking Heights Local Schools has partnered with the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation to offer a High School Tech Internship program to 10 high school students. This program provides students with real-life experience and on-the-job technology training, with the goal of preparing them for future careers in the tech industry.

The interns will work closely with Licking Heights’ district technology team, gaining hands-on experience in data, cloud and IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, broadband/5G and advanced mobility. This opportunity allows students to learn valuable skills that are in high demand by tech companies.

The inaugural class of technology interns at Licking Heights includes students from different grade levels who have diverse career aspirations. Some students, like Emily McCord and Zoe Kubinsky, are interested in pursuing careers in cybersecurity. McCord plans to study computer science and engineering at Ohio State University and become a cloud security analyst, while Kubinsky hopes to work in cybersecurity after graduation.

Other students, like Himanshu Mandal, have a specific interest in chip research and manufacturing. Mandal aims to gain experience through the internship that will help him secure a future position at companies like Intel. The High School Tech Internship program is providing students at Licking Heights with valuable opportunities to explore their interests and gain practical skills in the tech industry.
