Several employees of Steward Health Care, which owns hospitals in Brockton, Taunton, and Fall River and recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, did not receive their paychecks according to WCVB reports. The President of Steward Health Care, Mark Rich, attributed the delay to a processing error within the Bank of America system and issued a message to employees addressing the issue. Rich reassured employees that payroll and benefits for all team members were funded and would be deposited in their accounts within the next 24 hours.

A spokesperson for the Executive Office of Health and Human Services confirmed that state officials are aware of the delay and assured employees that they will receive their checks on Thursday or Friday. Steward Health Care currently employs over 30,000 individuals at more than 30 hospitals across the United States, including eight in Massachusetts.

The bankruptcy filing of Steward Health Care has raised concerns and questions about the future of the company amid financial turmoil. Employees have faced uncertainty about their paychecks and benefits, but Rich’s message sought to provide reassurance and clarity during this challenging time. State officials are working to ensure that employees receive their pay in a timely manner, as Steward continues to navigate through its bankruptcy proceedings.
