The Tadweer Group has partnered with the British climate company Levidian in international projects focused on removing carbon from waste. They are currently working on developing a pilot project that will be the first of its kind in Abu Dhabi and is expected to be operational by the end of 2024.

Oliver Christian, the British government’s trade commissioner in the Middle East, expressed that the partnership reflects a shared ambition to tackle one of the world’s biggest climate challenges. The group’s dedication to the circular economy, combined with Levidian’s innovative climate technology for carbon removal, will create new opportunities for converting waste to energy and extracting value from waste worldwide.

The collaboration aims to accelerate the removal of carbon from landfill sites globally using Levidian’s “LOOP” technology to produce clean hydrogen and carbon-negative graphene. These products can enhance the performance of materials like concrete, batteries, and plastics, offering a sustainable solution to waste management challenges.

Ali Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of Tadweer, emphasized the importance of investing in Levidian and sustainability technology to bring advanced solutions to the UAE. By partnering with like-minded companies, Tadweer aims to pioneer groundbreaking waste treatment methods that benefit future generations.

John Hartley, CEO of Levidian, highlighted the urgency of addressing climate-related challenges in the waste sector. The collaboration with Tadweer will support waste companies and governments in their efforts to extract value from waste and reduce carbon emissions.

The joint project between Tadweer and Levidian will utilize a mobile system to implement carbon removal projects in the UAE and globally. This technology aims to address methane waste issues and provide scalable solutions for waste management worldwide.
