TikTok and Universal Music Group (UMG) have come to a new agreement that will allow users of the popular social network to once again use songs from artists like Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny in their videos. This “multidimensional” licensing agreement between the two parties will bring back songs from UMG artists and composers to TikTok, all while ensuring fair remuneration and protection against artificial intelligence.

Lucian Grainge, the president and CEO of Universal Music Group, emphasized the importance of music, human art, and the wellbeing of the creative community in this new chapter of collaboration with TikTok. Users will now have access to a wide range of UMG song catalogs, including tracks from popular artists like Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Bad Bunny, Ariana Grande, and Drake.

The partnership between TikTok and Universal Music Group aims to introduce new ways for artists to monetize their work, along with providing tools for analysis and sales integration to help them expand their global fan base through the vast reach of the video platform. Additionally, measures have been taken to protect the integrity of human art and ensure that artists and composers receive their due share of revenue in the face of advancements in artificial intelligence.

TikTok CEO Shou Chew expressed his satisfaction with the new agreement, emphasizing the importance of music in the TikTok ecosystem and the collaborative efforts with Universal Music Group. Both parties are now working to ensure that the songs will be made available to users on the social network in the near future.
