The Jets have retained head coach Robert Saleh and General Manager Joe Douglas for the 2024 season, but they have made changes to their sports performance and sports science staff. Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports that director of high performance Brad DeWeese, assistant director of high performance Robert Sausaman, and director of sports science Matt Sams have all left the organization. DeWeese and Sausaman were hired after Saleh became the coach in 2021.
The team’s website now lists Alexander Carnall as the sports science coordinator, but there have been no new additions on the performance side of the staff. According to Cimini, the departures were not performance-based, but Douglas mentioned the team’s significant injuries along the offensive line in the past two seasons. To address this issue, the team signed veteran tackles Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses to bolster the line’s performance. Keeping these players healthy and on the field will be crucial for the team’s success in the 2024 season.
