Video purportedly depicts N.J. fire chief defacing rare Nissan sports car. The owner explains the shocking incident.

Surveillance video allegedly shows fire chief vandalizing sports car in Piscataway, New Jersey. The video shows Joshua Scolnick damaging a rare 1995 Nissan Nismo 270R parked next to the firehouse where he works. The car’s owner, Mark Bahna, claims that Scolnick was upset about rainwater from his sump pump seeping over to the Arbor Hose Company #1 next door. Bahna, who collects and sells Japanese sports cars, says his car was scratched and dented and is one of only 30 produced by Nissan in 1995.

Mark Bahna’s attorney, Mark Speed, stated that they are exploring all legal options and have reached out to the parties involved in writing. The attorney mentioned that they are waiting for a response to the situation. Bahna’s car, being number five out of the 30 produced, holds sentimental value, as Japanese sports cars have been a passion of his since his childhood when he grew up watching movies like “The Fast and the Furious.”

Attempts were made to reach out to Scolnick at the firehouse where he works, but there were no responses. Similarly, Piscataway Fire District No. 3, which is responsible for the firehouse, did not respond to messages. Scolnick has been charged with 3rd degree criminal mischief and was released on a summons complaint. The incident has caused a stir in the community and has left Bahna exploring legal options to address the damage caused to his prized sports car.
