A 36-year-old male tour guide in TP HCM suffered severe injuries, including a severed elbow, after the boat carrying 42 foreign guests collided with a ferry on the Tien River. Dr. Le Dinh Hai from the Department of Trauma and Orthopedics at Cho Ray Hospital stated that the patient was in critical condition with traumatic shock, ruptured organs, and multiple broken bones. Despite efforts from a team of specialists, the patient’s arm could not be saved.

The accident occurred on April 19 when a ferry carrying foreign passengers collided with a barge on the Tien River in Tan Chau town, An Giang. Several passengers, including German and French tourists, sustained injuries and were treated at FV Hospital. The ship owner attributed the accident to poor visibility caused by barges carrying sand in the area.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident, but both the ship’s crew and the ferry driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety measures in maritime transportation to prevent similar accidents in the future.
