The World Games 2029 to be held in Karlsruhe, Germany

The International World Games Association (IWGA) recently announced that Karlsruhe, Germany has been chosen as the host city for the 13th edition of The World Games in 2029. This will be the second time that Karlsruhe has been selected to organize The World Games, with the first one being in 1989. Germany has also previously hosted The World Games in 2005 in Duisburg, as well as many other international sporting events.

Following a nomination by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), Karlsruhe was selected to host the prestigious event. The city is located in the south-western region of Germany, near the French border and at the heart of Europe. The event is scheduled to take place in the summer of 2029, marking 40 years since Karlsruhe hosted The World Games in 1989.

IWGA President José Perurena expressed gratitude towards Germany for their strong commitment to The World Games and for providing excellent conditions for athletes in past events held in Karlsruhe and Duisburg. The upcoming 13th edition of The World Games is expected to attract around 3,000 top athletes from over 100 countries and regions, competing in approximately 35 sports.

The decision to appoint Karlsruhe as the host city for The World Games in 2029 was ratified at the Annual General Meeting of the IWGA. This marks a significant moment for the city and for Germany as a whole, demonstrating their dedication to hosting major international sporting events.
