The Tamil Nadu Science Forum recently organized a free lecture on the evolution of the universe based on the standard model theory. The lecture detailed how particles such as quarks (protons and neutrons) and leptons (electrons) make up all matter in the universe. Prafulla Kumar Behera, a physics professor at IIT-M, gave the presentation at the Anna Centenary Library in Kotturpuram. He discussed the impact of Peter W Higgs’ theoretical discovery on high-energy physics and the development of advanced particle accelerators and detectors, such as the large Hadron colliders and ATLAS. The Science Forum holds free science lectures every Saturday, both online and offline.

In addition to the lecture, the organization recently published articles on various topics such as the future of aspiring lecturers after the KSET 2024 results, the KSET results declared by KEA, and the MSc in Data Science program at Vellore Institute of Technology. The Data Science program at VIT aims to bridge the gap between aspiring individuals and career success in the data-driven world. The article highlights the transformative impact of Data Science on global industries and how the program at VIT offers upskilling opportunities with expert faculty, academic rigor, and a prestigious ranking.

Special events at BITM and Science City in Kolkata recently drew record footfall despite the heatwave in April. BITM’s successful programs and student engagement contributed to increased visitors, while Science City’s air-conditioned galleries and Voyager movie attracted crowds. These events showcased the growing interest in science and technology among the public.
