Following the Bengals’ use of the franchise tag on wide receiver Tee Higgins this offseason, another player on the team has reportedly requested a trade. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, edge rusher Trey Hendrickson has asked to be traded to another club. Hendrickson, who has non-guaranteed base salaries of $14.8 million and $15.8 million for the next two seasons, is seeking more long-term security which the Bengals have not been willing to provide him.
Hendrickson has been with the Bengals for the last three seasons and has been a productive player, recording 39.5 sacks in 48 regular season games. He also had 3.5 sacks in the lead-up to Super Bowl LVI. However, it seems that his future sacks may come in a different uniform if the Bengals decide to grant his trade request and part ways with him now.
