Trinity College in Dublin, the oldest academic institution in Ireland, has agreed to sever its financial ties with three Israeli companies on the UN blacklist due to their activities in the territories of Judea and Samaria. The college’s administration issued a statement expressing solidarity with the students who are concerned about events in the Gaza Strip and condemning violence. They also announced that the college will not engage in contracts with Israeli companies in the future.

Less than a week ago, a protest camp was set up on campus by the student union and the local branch of the BDS movement. Negotiations between the students and the administration have been ongoing, with the administration aiming to set an example for other academic institutions. Jenny Maguire, head of the student union, emphasized the importance of avoiding police intervention on campus, as seen in the United States.

The student-led protest camp has prompted Trinity College in Dublin to take action regarding its financial ties with Israeli companies. The college announced that it will cut its connections with three companies listed on the UN blacklist for their activities in Judea and Samaria. By standing in solidarity with students concerned about events in the Gaza Strip and condemning violence, the college aims to set an example for other academic institutions.
