USA sends Ukraine more long-range missiles

The USA has delivered long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine for use within Ukrainian territory. This delivery was made at the direct direction of the President, according to State Department spokesman Vedant Patel. The rockets were part of an aid package from March and arrived in Ukraine this month. Patel explained that the delivery was not initially announced to maintain Ukraine’s operational security at its request and is not part of the aid package passed by the US Congress for Ukraine.

This is not the first time the USA has sent ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, as they also delivered missiles with a range of 165 kilometers last year. The variant with the longest range can hit targets up to 300 kilometers away. Jake Sullivan, White House National Security Advisor, announced that the United States will continue to supply long-range missiles to Ukraine, emphasizing that they will make a difference in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The State Department’s confirmation of the delivery coincided with US President Joe Biden signing a law releasing aid worth 61 billion dollars for Ukraine. Meanwhile, Chancellor Olaf Scholz reiterated his rejection of delivering Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, stating that his decision will not change.
