Vicksburg Post: Swimming Lessons – A Great Bargain Offered by “Learn to Swim” Program in Vicksburg

Bowker, sports editor for The Vicksburg Post, recently wrote about the American Red Cross Swim Learning Program offered in Vicksburg. The program, which costs only $15, provides eight lessons from a certified American Red Cross lifeguard. This program is designed to help beginners feel comfortable in the water and return to safety. It is not meant to make someone a world-class swimmer but can be beneficial for anyone who wants to learn the basic skills of swimming.

The classes are not only for children but adults too, as many adults enroll in the program each year. Adults can also learn basic skills and get comfortable in the water. The program helps you learn skills that can be life-saving, especially in areas with many ponds and lakes.

The 2023 Swim Learning Program will be held in June and July, and registration will begin on May 17. The registration fee is $15, and it must be done in person with cash or check only. Space is limited, and classes fill up quickly, so it is essential to register as soon as possible.

Swimming is a basic life skill that everyone should have, regardless of age. The Learn to Swim program is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to develop the necessary skills to swim competently.

Ernest Bowker has been a member of The Vicksburg Post’s sports staff since 1998, making him one of the longest-serving reporters in the paper’s 140-year history.
