The conference “Vietnam’s semiconductor human resources in the global supply chain” organized by Phenikaa Group, Phenikaa University in collaboration with Synopsys Corporation and Arizona State University highlighted the importance of training to meet the demand for human resources in the semiconductor industry. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized the crucial role of human resources in the competitiveness of products and manufacturers in the semiconductor industry.

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized the need to build Vietnam into a global human resource center for the semiconductor industry. This would involve attracting investment in research, design, production, packaging, and testing of semiconductor chips in Vietnam. He stressed the importance of quickly responding to labor needs, skilled human resources, and STEM human resources to build the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.

Phenikaa Group, through their subsidiary Phenikaa Semiconductor Company (S-Phenikaa), has entered the semiconductor industry in Vietnam by establishing a center to train microchip human resources. They aim to train thousands of chip design engineers and technicians with international certificates to meet the industry’s human resource needs. They have also introduced the IC design major into the regular university training program to promote research, development, and design of advanced chips.

The government is focusing on building the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy and Human Resource Training Project to create a team of high-quality human resources with expertise in semiconductor ICs. The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the importance of forecasting and evaluating market demand at each stage of the semiconductor industry value chain.

The Ministry of Science and Technology is supporting research and development related to semiconductor microchips to advance the industry in Vietnam. They will prioritize research topics related to semiconductor microcircuits and support young research groups in this field. The goal is to enhance the country’s capabilities in semiconductor technology and innovation.
