Vote for your favorite Eugene athletes for Register-Guard Athlete of the Week

As the high school spring sports season enters its final month, Eugene-area athletes are continuing to excel in their respective sports. This week’s Register-Guard Athlete of the Week nominees include athletes from various schools and sports. The nominees are Reagan Kumle from Springfield softball, McKenzie Larsen from Churchill girls tennis, Trison Hedges from Thurston boys golf, Aiden Hibler from North Eugene baseball, Anthony Angelastro from Marist boys golf, Francesca Tomp from North Eugene girls golf, and Camille Gamble from Thurston girls golf. Each athlete has shown exceptional skills and performances in recent competitions.

Reagan Kumle, a senior softball player from Springfield, had an outstanding game with a double, three RBIs, and a run scored in a 10-3 victory over Ashland. Meanwhile, McKenzie Larsen, a junior tennis player from Churchill, secured two wins at No. 1 singles, defeating opponents from North Eugene and Willamette. Trison Hedges, a senior golfer from Thurston, finished second at the boys 5A Midwestern League District Championships with a two-day score of 162. Aiden Hibler, a freshman baseball player from North Eugene, stood out with four hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored in a series win over Crater.

Additionally, Anthony Angelastro, a senior golfer from Marist, placed third at the Shadow Hills Marshfield Invitational with a score of 81, helping his team win the title. Francesca Tomp, a junior golfer from North Eugene, won the girls 5A Midwestern League District Championships with a score of 152, leading her team to victory and a spot at the state tournament. Camille Gamble, a sophomore golfer from Thurston, hit a hole-in-one at the district championships and finished with a two-day score of 215.

Voting for the Athlete of the Week is open until noon on Thursday, so make sure to cast your vote for the athlete you believe is most deserving of the recognition. These athletes have showcased their talent and dedication to their sports, and their achievements deserve to be celebrated.
