Victoria Fluhart and her husband, Justin, experienced tragedy during the recent tornado in Waterloo. The couple had recently moved to the area to start an equine business on a property owned by Brandon Johnson of Jamico Construction. Victoria was days away from hosting an open house for her equine therapy business when the tornado struck. Despite the danger, her first instinct was to save the horses on the property, putting herself at risk in the process.

In the aftermath of the storm, Victoria found her beloved mare, Onyx, dead. Onyx had been with Victoria for 18 years, serving as a friend, partner, champion, business partner, and therapist. Though devastated by the loss, Victoria is determined to continue pursuing her dream of equine therapy, in honor of Onyx.

With the help of the community in Waterloo, the Fluharts are beginning the process of moving forward. They are grateful for the assistance with clean-up and are looking towards the future. Despite the challenges they face, Victoria and Justin are motivated to rebuild and continue working towards their dream of hosting an open house for their equine therapy business.

Thanks to community donations, the Fluharts hope to have a small building constructed by the summer, where they can eventually host their open house. Despite the hardships they have endured, their determination to rebuild and pursue their dreams remains strong.
