The NGO World Central Kitchen announced on Sunday that it will resume its humanitarian operations in the Gaza Strip after an Israeli bombing killed seven of its employees and collaborators on April 1. The head of the NGO, Erin Gore, stated that they will restart their operations with the same energy and dedication to feeding as many people as possible. The NGO received an apology from Israel for the attack but still has concerns about the Israeli Army’s operational rules. They are demanding an impartial and international investigation into the incident.

Throughout the past weeks, WCK aid workers have faced difficult decisions about whether to continue delivering food during the crisis in Gaza, where aid workers and civilians are being intimidated and killed. Ultimately, the decision was made to continue with their mission of delivering food, even in the face of great challenges. The NGO has 276 trucks ready to transport almost eight million meals, with plans to enter through the Rafá crossing and explore other delivery options.

The WCK workers and collaborators were killed in a bombing raid as they left a warehouse in Gaza. The preliminary Israeli investigation claimed that the workers were mistaken for armed Hamas militiamen, leading to the dismissal of two officers from the Israeli forces. The NGO is now working to resume its operations and provide essential food aid to those in need in Gaza.

In addition to their operations in Gaza, WCK is also exploring the possibility of delivering food through new sea corridors and ports in Israel and Jordan. Despite the challenges they have faced, the NGO remains committed to their mission of providing food aid to those in crisis.
