Yellen emphasized that the fundamentals of the economy support her expectation that inflation will return to more typical levels. Despite the slower growth in the last quarter, Yellen remains confident in the overall strength of the U.S. economy. She pointed out that the reasons behind the sluggish growth were not alarming and she sees positive trends for the future.
