A study conducted by Morning Consult revealed that 40% of Latina mothers in the US prefer cell phones or smart watches as gifts for Mother’s Day, double the preference of the rest of Americans. Electronics, such as phones and smart watches, are now more popular gift choices than jewelry or clothing among Latina mothers. However, flowers still remain the most expected gift for Mother’s Day.

The report by Verizon also found that three out of every four Latino adults communicate with their maternal figure at least once a week, with more than half of Gen Z Latinos calling their mother figures every day. The study showed that the Latin community has a closer relationship with their mother figures compared to the American population.

Verizon has launched promotions and offers targeting Latin consumers in the US for Mother’s Day, recognizing the importance of technology in connecting mothers with their loved ones. Latina mothers consider their phones important for parenting and staying in touch, with many using their phones to take photos, stay in touch with family, and make video calls.

Verizon has introduced discounts and offers for Latina mothers, with a focus on new smartphone models like the iPhone 15 or Galaxy S24+. The survey also revealed that Latina mothers are more likely to delay purchasing new smartphone models, making Mother’s Day a prime opportunity for Verizon to promote discounts to this demographic.

Hispanics in the US also tend to celebrate other maternal figures, such as sisters, grandmothers, or aunts, on Mother’s Day more than Americans in general. The survey, conducted by Verizon, included national samples of Americans, Latinos, and American Latina mothers and caregivers.

Verizon’s Vice President of Local and Segment Marketing, Robyn Parks, emphasized the importance of technology in connecting mothers with their loved ones, highlighting Verizon’s commitment to providing families with the technology and services they need. Overall, the study underscores the increasing reliance on technology for communication and connection among Latina mothers in the US.
