Olivia Rodrigo took to the stage at the Glastonbury festival and dedicated a song to Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, and Brett Kavanaugh, expressing hatred towards them. She performed the famous song “Fuck You” with singer Lily Allen, which criticized conservative British politicians upon its release. The song was updated by the American pop star and her British companion the day after the controversial revocation of the Roe vs. Wade ruling in the United States. The very conservative Supreme Court decision buried a ruling that had guaranteed the right of American women to have an abortion for almost half a century, causing alarm among many in the entertainment industry.

Several American states have already announced measures to prohibit voluntary terminations of pregnancies following the Supreme Court’s decision. Stars like Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, and Phoebe Bridgers spoke out against the ruling on stage at the Glastonbury festival. Other celebrities like Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey, and Harry Styles expressed their concerns on social media, denouncing the decision and its implications for women’s rights.

In response to the Supreme Court’s ruling, artists like Lizzo and the rock group Rage Against the Machine pledged donations to organizations supporting women’s reproductive rights. Lizzo announced a donation of $500,000 from her next tour to Planned Parenthood, while Rage Against the Machine committed nearly $500,000 to organizations in Wisconsin and Illinois. The entertainment industry’s response to the ruling reflects a united front in support of women’s rights and the fight against restrictions on abortion access in the United States.
