Assaults on Healthcare in Occupied Palestinian Territory: Bi-Monthly News Update, April 03-16, 2024

The session at HNPW 2024 will focus on ensuring access to healthcare through community support and better Security Risk Management (SRM) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The discussion will analyze the risk and impact of attacks against the health system on service delivery, staff, and affected communities. While the specific focus is on the situation in the DRC, the findings are relevant to other countries experiencing similar violations of the right to health. The virtual session will take place on 3rd May from 15.00-16.30 CET, conducted in French with English translation available.

A new study will examine the impact of violence against healthcare on maternal and children’s healthcare in Eastern DRC, with materials available in both English and French.

The Semaine 2024 du réseau et des pratiques humanitaires will discuss guaranteeing access to healthcare through community support and improved security risk management for hospitals in the DRC. The panel will share insights from an operational approach to analyzing risk and assessing the impact of attacks on the health system, focusing on service delivery, staff, and affected communities. The virtual event will take place on 3rd May from 15.00-16.30 CET, conducted in French with English translation.

Another session at the event will explore security planning and Security Risk Management, highlighting current challenges and strategies for organizations and health providers to adapt to changing situations. Scheduled for 6th May 2024, from 14:00-15:30 CET, the session will be both virtual and in-person at CICG Geneva Plenary B.

Additionally, a session will discuss how security analysis optimizes humanitarian operations, enabling effective delivery based on insights from security analysts, emergency practitioners, and stakeholders in the humanitarian and health community. Scheduled for 3rd May 2024 from 14:00-15:30 CET, the virtual session will delve into the critical aspects of security analysis and information for better humanitarian response.
