During Public Health Week in Detroit, people will have the opportunity to receive free health screenings. The event is hosted by the Detroit Health Department and will run from April 1 through April 6. No appointment, ID, or health insurance is required to participate in the free health screenings.

The Detroit Health Department is collaborating with Detroit police precincts, recreation centers, and other community partners to host the event. This year’s theme is “Centering and Celebrating Culture in Health,” emphasizing the importance of cultural influence on health.

Residents can take advantage of free health screenings and participate in activities promoting a healthy lifestyle. The screenings and activities include checks for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, kidney function, HIV, and syphilis testing, fitness classes, CPR training, Narcan training and kit distribution, mental health screenings, lead screenings, and a men’s panel discussion called Cuts and Conversations.

Events will be held at various locations throughout Detroit, including the Detroit Health Department, police precincts, and recreation centers, on specific dates and times listed on the Detroit Public Health Week flyer for 2024. More information about the week of events can be found on the city of Detroit’s official website at detroitmi.gov/health.
