Andrea Becerra had a career day at the Hyundai Archery World Cup season opener in Shanghai. The 23-year-old Mexican archer scored an impressive 713 points in the 72-arrow 50-meter qualifying round, earning a top seed for the first time since making her international debut in 2018. After the session, she expressed confidence in her team, stating that Mexico is stronger than ever and has been performing at a high level that she hopes will carry them to the World Cup Final.

For the third year in a row, the tour’s grand finale will be held in Mexico, specifically in Tlaxcala for the second time in three years. Andrea, also known as Maya among her team members and on the archery line, was determined to secure the top spot in qualification. Despite consistently achieving match results, she had never been a high qualifier in the past. However, her recent performance had her on track to potentially break a world record, as she narrowly missed only by a few points.

Two years ago, Andrea finished fourth at the Hyundai Archery World Cup Final in Tlaxcala as a host nation invitee. This time around, Maya is determined to earn a spot at the World Cup Final without any special invitations. Her goal is to continue her success and secure a place in the prestigious tournament through her own accomplishments and qualifications.
