Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed important legislation providing $95 billion in military aid to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and the wider Indo-Pacific region. This momentous decision was hailed as a significant step, with some even likening it to Churchillian leadership. House Speaker Mike Johnson and the representatives who supported these bills deserve recognition for their actions, which many consider to be the right thing to do.

The crises in Ukraine and Israel, along with concerns regarding Taiwan and the wider Indo-Pacific region, are currently at the forefront of global attention. However, there are other catastrophic situations that have sadly faded into the background due to their prolonged nature, ongoing deterioration, and their distance from our immediate focus. Despite their significant impact and scale, these issues struggle to capture the attention of the public.

Despite the mounting challenges facing these regions, they continue to operate under the radar and require urgent attention. By shedding light on these lesser-known catastrophes, we can raise awareness and hopefully spur action to address these critical issues.
