BMW is set to invest 200 million euros into its components plant in Landshut, Germany to expand production capacity. The focus will be on producing the central housing for the electric powertrain of the Neue Klasse at this facility. This investment will result in the addition of two new production lines, increasing the annual production capacity for fifth and sixth generation aluminum housings by approximately 30 percent. Currently used in model series such as iX3, i4, i5, i7, and iX, the fifth generation of BMW electric motors will also benefit from this expansion, with plans for the sixth generation to be used in Neue Klasse vehicles starting in 2025.

Thomas Thym, head of the BMW Group plant in Landshut, emphasized the importance of continuously expanding the site’s expertise in both production and technology development. This expansion aims to provide the flexibility needed for future advancements in the industry.
