Around one hundred pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested on Saturday morning when police evacuated a camp set up on a Northeastern University campus in Boston, amidst ongoing protests against the Israeli offensive in Gaza. The university stated that approximately 100 people were arrested during the evacuation, with students who showed their university ID being released while those who did not were taken into custody. The university also mentioned that some of the protesters had engaged in violent anti-Semitic behavior.

Students from universities like Harvard, MIT, and Emerson have been establishing pro-Palestinian camps calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. In recent days, there have been multiple incidents of police action at campuses where these camps were set up, including at Emerson College and New York University. Riot police have been dispersing protesters and making arrests in response to what university officials have described as disorderly and disruptive behavior.

The protests have spread to various universities in Boston and Cambridge, with demands for a ceasefire, divestment from Israeli donors, and an end to US aid for the Israeli government. Pro-Palestinian camps at universities across the country are calling on Washington to take action and for universities to reconsider their financial ties to Israel.

Despite the arrests and police actions, the pro-Palestinian protesters continue to advocate for their cause, with some universities taking measures to restrict access to their campuses for those without proper identification. The situation remains tense as students seek to make their voices heard and push for change in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
